This quarter's Spotlight is on Julie Johnson, former President and Board Member of ASMNP.
Julie finished her Master's of Science Degree from Winona State University in 2004 with the focus on Adult Nurse Practitioner. Her current work area is Cardiovascular Hospital Services serving the cardiovascular population. She has completed research on Gastroesophageal reflux disease and has two publications included below.
When asking Julie what is the biggest change she has seen in her career her answer is "The complexities of the illnesses/disease processes with which patients present". I also got the chance to ask her what is the biggest change she would like to see and her reply "Improved primary, secondary and tertiary prevention strategies which would limit the development/progression of illnesses and diseases".
There is always a pearl of wisdom to share with other nurse practitioners and Julie's is "Listen carefully to your patients and clients. If they are able to, they will tell you what's wrong with them."
