Happy New Year! The 2011-2012 year has had a successful start, with our ASMNP membership drive in September and dinner program in November. We have had great turnouts for each event with many new faces. I appreciate the networking time before our dinner programs to meet/socialize with our members. I thank our current board members for their hard work in putting these programs together.
Our next event will take place on March 15th at the Hubbell House in Mantorville, MN. The event will start at 6 p.m. to allow for travel time. Our program will include two speakers, who will share their volunteer experiences at a local free clinic and medical mission trips. We would like to acknowledge our members who have volunteered. Please submit information regarding your experience/organization to ASMNP (asmnp.news@gmail.com). You are invited to bring information/brochures for our display table for our members to pick-up.
Several of our board members will be attending the 2012 National Nurse Practitioner Health Policy Conference in Washington, DC and meeting with our legislators. This conference provides opportunity for NPs to go to the Hill and educate legislators on who we are, what we do, and how important we are as members of the health care delivery team. We will share a summary of their visit at our March event.
This year make a commitment to get involved at the local level. Join ASMNP. Dues can now be paid on-line via PayPal on our website. Contact your legislators. Tell them you are their constituent, a Nurse Practitioner and share your stories.
I look forward to seeing you at our March event.
Best Regards
Marcia Britain DNP, RN, CNP
2011-12 ASMNP President
